Accessibility has been a legal requirement since June 2025

The European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) has applied since 28 June 2025 to many digital services in the European Union, including e-commerce. Each member state has transposed it into its own law. Many of the shops concerned do not yet know whether they fall within its scope, or what on their site is currently stopping customers before they buy: insufficient contrast, a form that cannot be used with a keyboard, missing text alternatives. An audit tells you where you stand, before someone else asks the question for you.

Unlike a simple audit, we work from start to finish: we identify the barriers and then, because we build websites, we can also apply the technical fixes directly to your site or shop, under a remediation quote drawn up after the audit.

  • Automated and manual audit against WCAG success criteria, the basis of the European standard EN 301 549 (and, in France, the RGAA).

  • Identification of the barriers faced by people with disabilities along the purchase journey.

  • Technical fixes that can be applied to the site (contrast, keyboard navigation, structure, forms, text alternatives), on a separate quote according to the issues found.

  • A clear debrief and prioritised actions.

Who is it for?

  • Online shops and service websites that fall, or may fall, within the scope of the EAA.

  • Online retailers who want to widen their audience and reduce basket abandonment.

  • Organisations committed to a CSR or inclusion approach.

What the base price includes

The price depends on the number of representative pages and templates to audit: up to 15, 16 to 30, or more (on quote). The starting price appears at the top of this page. Remediation, with the fixes applied to the site, is quoted according to the issues found.

How the service runs

  1. Preparation: selection of the pages, templates and purchase journeys to audit.

  2. Automated audit: analysis with specialist tools (axe DevTools, WAVE, Lighthouse).

  3. Manual audit: human checks of the criteria that cannot be detected automatically.

  4. Report: delivery of the report with screenshots, criteria and prioritised recommendations.

  5. Remediation (optional): a quote based on the issues found, then technical fixes applied to the site within the approved scope.

The audit and the fixes are carried out remotely, wherever your business is based.

Deliverables

  • A WCAG audit report on the representative sample approved at the outset.

  • A compliance grid by criterion (compliant, non-compliant, not applicable).

  • A prioritised remediation plan (quick wins and structural actions).

  • A detailed remediation quote if you want the fixes applied.

  • A draft accessibility statement prepared from the audit results.

Frequently asked questions

Is accessibility mandatory for my shop? Since 2025, the European Accessibility Act has extended accessibility requirements to many consumer-facing digital services in the EU, including e-commerce. Special cases and exemptions exist depending on the size of the business and the nature of the service, and the details vary with each country's transposition.

How is this different from a simple audit? An audit identifies and prioritises the problems. Here, because we build websites, we can also apply the technical fixes directly to your site, on a separate quote once the audit is complete, within the approved scope.

Do you guarantee legal compliance or a certification? No. The service covers a representative sample of pages and journeys approved at the outset. It does not cover the whole site unless specifically quoted, nor PDF documents or testing with people with disabilities unless included as an option in the quote. It is neither a guarantee of legal compliance, nor an official certification, nor legal advice.
